Educational Background
He received his BS in Physics from the University of Michigan in 1973, MD from the University of California at San Francisco in 1977, and MS Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado in 1988. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Colorado, and is a graduate of the Stanford Executive Institute for the Management of High Technology Companies and Dartmouth’s Tuck Executive Program. He holds nine patents in the field of implantable medical devices.

Brief Biography
Kenneth M Riff MD, FACP, MSEE is Vice President of Data Strategies and Clinical Research in the Patient Management Group at Medtronic, Inc., in Minneapolis. In this group, which is developing instrumentation and systems for remote monitoring of implantable devices, he is responsible for developing product and clinical applications that utilize the unique database created by these follow-up systems. Having joined Medtronic in 1988, Riff has managed a variety of research and venture organizations.
In addition, Dr. Riff is the Executive Director of the newly formed Heart Brain Center at North Hawaii Community Hospital in Kamuela, Hawaii. Dr. Riff came to Hawaii in August 2003, on an Archibald Bush Foundation Medical Fellowship to study and design innovative and community-based healthcare systems. He has been responsible for developing and implementing an overall strategy to make North Hawaii a center of excellence for cardiovascular medicine. He is one of the five members of the Steering Committee of the Earl and Doris Bakken Heart-Brain Institute at Cleveland Clinic, and he is responsible for managing the affiliation between Cleveland Clinic and North Hawaii Community Hospital. He serves as course director for INMD 7577: Integrative Healing in Hawaii.

Prior to joining Medtronic, Riff practiced hospital-based internal medicine in Denver.
