The Annual Ruth Stricker Mind-Body Lecture
About the Ruth Stricker Mind-Body Lecture Each year the Center brings a world-renowned leader in mind-body medicine to the Twin Cities metro to talk about topics at the forefront in integrative health and wellness. Usually held in April, these well-attended and inspiring programs are made possible through a generous gift from Ruth Stricker. The Annual Ruth Stricker Mind-Body Lecture is produced by the Center for Spirituality & Healing and co-sponsored by the University of Minnesota’s Henry L. Taylor Professorship in Exercise Science and Health Enhancement and the School of Kinesiology in the College of Education and Human Development.
About Ruth Stricker As founder and executive director of The Marsh, A Center for Balance and Fitness, Ruth Stricker is a pioneer and international spokesperson for the mind-body connection. With a global viewpoint, Ruth fully integrates Eastern and Western philosophies into her professional and personal life, her theme being “the resiliency of the human spirit.” She believes that each of us is personally responsible for our own health. Ruth has been a master of mind-body balance for more than 40 years. “The mind is the teacher of the soul,” she says, “but the body is its book.” She champions the conviction that “perseverance is not a long race but many short races, one after another.” Ruth is a mentor to many who share her philosophy, as well as those who aspire to achieve it.
