Summary
There is a substantial body of research supporting the use
of meditation for a wide variety of specific conditions, as
well for its contribution to overall improvement in well-being.
There are some data that suggest meditative practices may
also reduce use of healthcare services.
Educate patients about different types of meditation, so
they can select one that appeals to them and fits their life.
If you are providing meditation instruction, be sure to fit
the technique to the individual and make modifications as
necessary.
The provider must be aware of side effects of the practice,
persons for whom it should not be used and assessments to
make as the person practices meditation.
