Scenario 1: Patient Interview
Questions from the Berg Cultural/Spiritual Assessment were
used in this case to gather more information about the patient's
background. Since the patient did not speak English, an interpreter
was brought in to translate the woman's responses. The woman
was either unable or extremely limited in her ability to communicate,
so it was important for the providers to use an interpreter
to help them conduct the assessment with her family.
Review the responses from this cultural assessment and think
about whether or not your initial recommendations for this
patient would change.
