Characteristics of a Healing Touch Session

A Healing Touch session can generally be characterized as follows:

  • The patient remains fully clothed.
  • The patient typically lies down or sits comfortably in a chair.
  • The Healing Touch practitioner uses light touch and/or sweeping hands motions above the patient's body to assess and balance the energy layers.
  • The length of a session may vary from 20 - 60 minutes for a full body treatment vs. 5 to 15 minutes for a localized treatment.
  • The practitioner explains Healing Touch and addresses the patient's questions before and after the session.
  • The practitioner welcomes feedback from the patient.
  • Patients' experiences during sessions vary. Some patients feel nothing at all. Others describe sensations of energy moving, deep relaxation, feelings of being supported and nurtured, visions of images and colors. Some patients experience an emotional release such as tears, or they may develop insight into specific areas of their lives.
