Working with TCM Providers 12 of 12

Summary

  • Because some of your patients will be seeing a TCM practitioner or may ask you for information or a referral, it is important to know something about what TCM practitioners do and why.

  • It is important to keep in mind that TCM has an entirely different worldview and perspective on human health and the treatment of disease and you should partner with open-mindedness and respect.

  • It is also helpful to know some local practitioners that you can refer patients to.

  • You can you get names from your own patients, Oriental medicine schools, NCCAOM or AOMAN websites, or health publications.

  • Regardless of the source, you will probably want to check that the practitioner is board certified by the NCCAOM.
