Halcon

Dr. Halcón is a faculty member of the Center for Spirituality and Healing, where she teaches three courses as part of the Graduate Minor in Complementary Therapies and Healing Practices: Clinical Aromatherapy I & II and Spirituality and Resilience. She is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing, a faculty member of the Center for Adolescent Nursing and an adjunct faculty member in the School of Public Health, Division of Epidemiology.

Dr. Halcón earned her doctorate of epidemiology from the University of Minnesota in 1998. She completed her Master's in Public Health in public health nursing in 1986 and her Bachelor's of Nursing in 1983, also at the University. Her wide-ranging professional experiences include serving as Interim Director of Boynton Health Service, Public Health Director for Isanti County, coordinator for emergency health programs of The International Rescue Committee in Iraq and Sudan, Quality Assurance Director for the Community Clinic Consortium, and as a community health clinician working with people who have sexually transmitted diseases.

Dr. Halcón was recently appointed the 2002-2004 Sime Fellowship and will pursue her research and clinical interests in the therapeutic use of essential plant oils.
