About the Graduate Minor Back to Top

Are you inspired to make a difference in people's lives? Explore diverse health care practices? Empower patients with information about well-researched complementary and alternative therapies for health and healing? Learn from faculty who are among the nation's foremost clinicians and researchers in complementary therapies? If so, let the University of Minnesota's Graduate Minor in Complementary Therapies and Healing Practices help you ignite a spark and nurture the flames of self-discovery, critical inquiry and exploration as never before.

With the nation's first Graduate Minor program in Complementary Therapies and Healing Practices, the University's Center for Spirituality and Healing is proud to introduce an extraordinary array of courses in complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) topics. The Graduate Minor will open your eyes to a world of cross-cultural healing and spiritual practices, and will deepen your understanding of diverse health care perspectives.

Interdisciplinary Coursework and Goals Back to Top

Through Graduate Minor coursework, students of all ages and from all walks of life are inspired to broaden their world view - one that emerges from creative exploration into health, human nature and self-care. The program draws on the rich expertise of University and community-based faculty who encourage and challenge students to discover new ways of caregiving, and to cultivate diverse skills that will transform their life's work, experiences and relationships with others.

The Graduate Minor program features inter-disciplinary coursework that prepares students to:

Apply theoretical concepts and models to complementary therapies and healing practices

Conduct research in complementary therapies and healing practices

Work collaboratively with other health care professionals and patients in cross-cultural health care systems

Use complementary therapies and healing practices.

Experiential, hands-on and web-based learning are just some of the many strategies that Center faculty incorporate into their courses.
