Opportunities for Change

Since its inception, the Center for Spirituality & Healing has been inspired and supported by forward-thinking philanthropists. Individuals, families, foundations and corporations recognized that for true innovation to take hold in healthcare and beyond, the Center would need their generous resources to launch new endeavors, test new ideas and engage the public. Current giving opportunities focus on leadership, transformational learning, research and innovation. We invite you to join us as a catalyst, inspiring the Center’s work into realms of greater and deeper impact, and as a partner in bringing wellbeing to the world.

Learn more about each of these gift opportunities and others by contacting Dianne Lev, our Director of Development. Come to the Center to meet our team. Together, let us explore the visions that can become reality when we work together.

Endow the Center

Endow the Center

We welcome individuals and organizations who share our passion for health and wellbeing to help us realize our vision for the Center as the nation’s leader in integrative interdisciplinary education, breakthrough research and community engagement. A substantial endowed gift will generate annual income to ensure that the Center’s work resides on a solid foundation and fuels our transformative efforts for many years to come.

Our goal for a Center endowment is $7-8 million.

Establish a Leadership Chair

Establish a Leadership Chair

The Center’s Founder and Director is recognized as one of the world’s pioneering leaders in integrative health and wellbeing. Our Director forges visionary pathways; pushes the envelope in education, research and engagement; and informs policies that shape the public’s health. We seek compelling gifts that will anchor the Director position now and into the future, gifts that will assure that the Center’s voice continues to be heard all across the globe.

Our goal for an endowed leadership chair is $2-3 million.

Expand our Leadership Team

Expand our Leadership Team

The Center is at a pivotal juncture. A small, highly-leveraged faculty and staff have driven growth and accomplishments. Our team must be deepened to sustain the scope of impact we wish to achieve going forward. We seek to expand our leadership team by creating positions in three strategic areas: 1) research; 2) education; and 3) innovation and design thinking.

Multi-year, outright gifts at the professorship level will give us the resources to attract respected, talented leaders whose work will be critical in the times ahead.

Our goal for the three professorship-level positions is $1.5 million ($500,000 respectively).

Offer Scholarships to Students

Offer Scholarships to Students

Recording-breaking numbers of students from every profession, not just healthcare, are attracted to the Center’s graduate programs because they value the unique educational experiences we offer. However, too many students face financial challenges and are forced to put their educational dreams on hold. These are the next-generation leaders in a world that desperately needs their skills, creativity and passion for wellbeing. Right now, the University of Minnesota Foundation will increase the power and accelerate the pace of endowed gifts (or pledges) of $50,000 or more that will be devoted to scholarships. FastStart 4 Impact gets more financial support to students faster. This exciting opportunity for deserving students is time-limited.

Our goal for expanding access to Center education is $500,000.

Grow "Taking Charge of Your Health & Wellbeing" Initiative

Grow "Taking Charge of Your Health & Wellbeing" Initiative

In 2006, the Center launched the ‘Taking Charge of Your Health’ website for consumers wanting to create healthy lifestyles, explore healing practices and better navigate the healthcare system.

What seemed ahead of its time then is central to today’s wellbeing conversations. The website’s success is nothing short of astonishing, bringing knowledge and empowerment to people around the world. Beyond the website, Taking Charge is now a more complete initiative that includes experiential learning retreats and self-directed products. As consumers embrace their personal responsibility for health, our Taking Charge website and programs are poised for growth and further innovation via charitable giving.

Our goal to bring Taking Charge to the next level is $250,000.

Broaden Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction

Broaden Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction

The Center has emerged as Minnesota’s—and one of the nation’s—pioneering hubs of Mindulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) education, research and care model innovation. No longer practiced at the margins, MBSR’s awareness sharpening benefits are being embraced in healthcare, education, business, government and community settings. Our MBSR program has grown exponentially—demand from students for education is high and invitations to research the e‰ects of MBSR abound. Giving to MBSR will permit us support remarkable faculty and provide scholarships to students.

Our goal for expanding the MBSR is $250,000.

Develop Health Coaching

Develop Health Coaching

In a new paradigm that focuses on consumer empowerment and personal responsibility, health coaching is emerging as a pivotal profession. The Center has one of the nation’s leading programs in both graduate and continuing education for health coaching. New partnerships bring coaching expertise to health systems, health plans, businesses and nonprofits. We’ve embarked on promising research to capture coaching’s impact on health outcomes. Philanthropy is essential to exploring health coaching’s frontier and piloting the approach, especially with underserved populations.

Our development goal for health coaching is $250,000.

Foster Arts and Healing

Foster Arts and Healing

The Center’s new Arts and Healing initiative brings creative, artistic dimensions to the preparation of tomorrow’s healthcare providers, school educators, and community leaders. Research is generating rich evidence around what happens when arts are integrated into acute and chronic care. Our growing program includes dynamic courses, research studies and products for healing and ongoing wellbeing. Private support is key to realizing the potential impact of arts and healing—gifts will support remarkable faculty, seed research and create experiential events.

Our goal for growing this initiative is $500,000.

Advance Nature-Based Therapeutics

Advance Nature-Based Therapeutics

Nature-based therapeutics (NBT) is yet another emerging field that has attracted deep interest in the Center. From health organizations that provide acute and chronic care to educational programs that serve adults and children, bold leaders are hungry to understand and apply NBT’s therapeutic methods of connecting people with nature and animals. On the forefront of an international NBT movement, the Center off‰ers courses; conducts research to test interventions, and collaborates with a rich mix of community-based programs. This program’s early stage of development is ripe for philanthropy—resources will seed research, test new models and reap benefits from bold partnerships.

Our goal to advance NBT is $250,000.
