Summary

Hello! I’m Portia (she/they). I’m a holistic and interdisciplinary healer, teacher, guide, ritualist, and channel. My medicine path is one of remembering our wholeness. I work at the intersections of embodiment, expanded consciousness, creative expression, sacred activism, ancestral connection, and cultural healing.

My blood lineage people are from the lands of Scandinavia, the British Isles, and Western Europe. They migrated to Turtle Island in the mid 1700’s – and settled/colonized the traditional lands of the Shawnee and Cherokee peoples throughout the Appalachian region (now Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Georgia). Currently, I live and love in South Minneapolis, Minnesota – better known as the traditional lands of the Anishinaabe (Chippewa, Ojibwe) and Dakota (Sioux) peoples.

I’m raced white and walk with a lot of insider privilege within the current culture (white/cis-passing/hetero-passing/able-bodied/thin) – and I’m committed to the on-going process of dismantling oppressive power structures (internally and externally).

I’m also a queer person (pan/ecosexual/nonbinary), a partner and mother, an independent musician, an animist, an eclectic witch, and a bridge for the Otherworld.

I currently teach several graduate courses here at the University of Minnesota’s Center for Spirituality and Healing and have taught at Northwestern Health Sciences University in past years.

I also teach community classes through my private practice Tall Reeds Healing Arts, as well as several annual womxn’s gatherings (Spirit Weavers and Moon Mountain Gathering).

Expertise

As a starseed and lifelong spiritual seeker, my interest is vast and eclectic. I am not an expert in any given area – but rather a synthesizer and weaver of many disciplines and believes all rivers flow to the ocean.

I have studied with many mentors in various wisdom traditions over the years and am an avid self-directed learner. I believe a “good” education comes in many forms – the most powerful of which is the divine mystery of direct knowing.

I have experience in a broad array of mind-body-spirit therapies and meditative practices, medicinal herbs, food therapy, several styles of bodywork and energy medicine, quantum healing, sound healing, ceremonial and ritual work, channeling and intuitive guidance.

My interests include healing trauma, consciousness, parapsychology, quantum physics, biofield research, spiritual practices, ancient wisdom traditions, ancestral healing, somatic and embodiment practices, social/racial/earth justice, and cultural healing.
