Welcome to the orientation for Mindfulness at Work, a fully online course designed to help employees thrive at work and in daily life. This course was designed by the University of Minnesota’s Center for Spirituality & Healing.  The Center is an interprofessional unit within the University's Academic Health Center. The Center's mission is to enrich health and wellbeing by providing exemplary education, conducting rigorous research, advancing integrative models of care, and delivering innovative solutions to organizations and communities.

What if I plan to be out of town/on vacation for a week and am unable to complete that week’s course work?

What if I plan to be out of town/on vacation for a week and am unable to complete that week’s course work?

While it works best to complete the course sequentially week by week with the rest of your cohort, you can make up one week on your own. However, if you will be unable to complete more than one week of course work, we recommend that you wait until the next session to register so you can fully participate.

This course is six weeks in length, with a 30-minute orientation prior to the beginning of the course. You should expect to spend about 50-60 minutes per week completing the course content at your own pace, and 10-15 minutes per day on formal home practice.

Not at all! We are excited to share mindfulness and meditation with you.  We provide an introduction to mindfulness in the orientation and will build foundational skills week by week in the course.

Absolutely! This course is about applying mindfulness at work. It uses mindfulness skills to help you develop presence; enhance your emotional regulation and ability to stay open and see new options in difficult situation; strengthen your capacity to cope with stress; and help you communicate more effectively and build stronger relationships in teams and communities.

During the six-week course, expect weekly course work to take 30-45 minutes per week to complete, and formal home practice of 10 minutes per day. We will also suggest skills to practice at work, but these will not take additional time out of your day.

You will be participating in online activities and interacting with your cohort virtually.  Therefore, the people registered in a cohort will know the names of other participants and will see any questions they pose in the Q&A forums. (It is also possible to email private questions to the instructor). We provide a set of guidelines for course participants regarding confidentiality and courtesy to support this learning community and request that all participants honor them.
